There are essential professions in the maritime industry that, despite their importance, remain largely unknown.

In an interview published by La Provincia, our colleague David Galván Vera, Canarship's operator in Las Palmas, shares what it really means to work as a ship agent. As he explains:

"We are the legal representative of a foreign company in Spain. From a legal standpoint, we are responsible for both the vessel and the client while they are in a Spanish port."

A responsibility that goes far beyond documentation, often involving anything the vessel may need, "from repairs to something as simple as supplying a single screw."

We are pleased to see this interview helping raise awareness of a profession that is both essential to global trade and often overlooked, while highlighting the work that takes place behind every port call.
